Army
in 1637, he fought
during the Indian War with the Pequot Indians and was granted 8 acres of
land in recognition
for his service by
the town of Ipswich, MA. LT. John Andrews, along with his four sons,
opposed the "Witch
Trails" in Salem.
All of these men signed a petition to halt the proceedings which was not
granted.

MA died 17 Nov. 1828. According to family history Jonathan Andrews
was a veteran of the Revolution.
Captured and imprisoned aboard the HMS Jersey family lore states that he
was able to escape the prison
ship by greasing his body and slipping through a port hole. He then
swam ashore and walked home on foot.
As a reward for his service he was grated land that became Pleasant Ridge
Maine. This information has not
yet been verified. Although there is evidence that at least two Jonathan
Andrews were imprisoned aboard
the HMS Jersey.
