LIFTON.
Sergt. A. J. DYER, D.C.L.I., a Liftonian, has been presented with the D.C.M. For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led his patrol under intense heavy fire with great courage and skill, gaining his objective. Later, he maintained his position for two days until relieved. His parents, who reside in the village, have been the recipients of hearty congratulations.
The funeral of the late Miss LANE took place at the parish church, the Revs. A. N. F. KEOGH and M. HOARE officiating. The chief mourners were Messrs. S. T. LANE, W. E. LANE, R. STANBURY, J. STANBURY, Mesdames COOMBE and STANBURY, the Misses ELLERY, L. STANBURY, and G. LANE. The bearers were Messrs. J. MITCHELL, T. OKE, W. GLOYN, H. WESTLAKE, J. BENOY, and J. BRADSHAW.
The funeral of the late Mr. S. BRAUND, of Coombe Farm, took place at the parish church, the service being conducted by the Rev. A. N. F. KEOGH, while Mr. C. H. SYMONS presided at the organ. The mourners were the widow, Ivy and Violet (daughters), Edmund (son), Miss BRAUND (sister), Mr. and Mrs. BRAUND (brother and sister), Mr. PERKIN (brothe-in-law) <sic>, Mrs. LYLE (aunt), Mrs. BRIMACOMBE, Mr. RICH, Mrs. MARTYN (cousins). Wreaths were sent from the widow and family; from brothers and sister at Scotland Farm; from Mr. and Mrs. SYMONS, Yeat Farm.
