HOLSWORTHY.

ACCIDENTS. - Marwood BRAUND, an old man, ostler at the King's Arms, was kicked in the abdomen on Wednesday while going round the stable. He had to be carried home, and Dr. LISLE was summoned to his attendance. It is hoped there is no serious injury. - Mr. DAW, of North Tamerton, on his way to Holsworthy Market, while coming up Derriton Hill, came into collision with Mr. HICK's trap, of Leworthy. Mr. DAW was thrown violently into the road and broke his thigh.

ENSILAGE. - The first attempt in this neighbourhood to follow up Mr. W. J. HARRIS's, M.P., plan of saving grass immediately it is cut has been made this week by Mr. BOX, of Rydon. In an old shippen, after the floor had been sunk two feet and the doors and windows had been walled up, the produce of 3½ acres of good grass was placed. After this about 11 tons of sand and wood were placed upon it. The greater part of the grass was cut and carried while it was raining. Many people have been interested in this experiment, and should it succeed there is no doubt that many will try it another year.

The fine weather yesterday was hailed with delight, and made farmers busy again with their hay, a quantity of which has been down a long time. Should the rain keep off for a week or ten days this harvest will pretty well be over. Northward, however, towards Bradworthy, very little is yet done beyond cutting the clover hay.
