HOLSWORTHY.

SUDDEN DEATH OF A HOLSWORTHY TRADESMAN. - Mr George PETHERICK, earthenware and china merchant, of Victoria-square and St. Mary's-road, aged 67, died suddenly on Sunday. He rose, as usual, in the morning apparently in his usual health; indeed recently he has been saying that he had not felt better for years. He went, as is his custom, to the Wesleyan Chapel, where the services commence at 10.30 a.m. After the service he visited Mr. John TRIM, the oldest member of the Wesleyan Society, now living in Holsworthy, who on account of age and infirmity cannot attend the services. Mr. PETHERICK next called at his Victoria-place business establishment, where his daughter-in-law, widow of his late son, superintends. About one o'clock all dined together. When the meal was finished Mr. PETHERICK, turning to his daughter-in-law, said, “Thank God I have made a good dinner.” Before going to his class at the Sunday School Mr. PETHERICK(?) would frequently recline in his chair. On Sunday, about 2.20 p.m., he went upstairs and threw himself on the bed, intending, however, to go to the monthly Union meeting of the various Society classes, which commenced at 3 o'clock, and from which meet ngs <sic> he was never absent except at a time when he was away to Staffordshire. About five minutes to three his wife, who is in a very delicate state of health, called to him. Hearing no response, she went upstairs and found her husband apparently dead. She immediately ran to the nearest neighbour, Mr. Marwood BRAUND, who fetched Dr. ASH and Dr. SYMONS, both of whom were soon in attendance. Their efforts, however, were of no avail, as he must have been dead before they arrived. He was rather a robust man, and very moderate in his diet. He suffered rom <sic> heart complaint. - GLEANER.
