HOLSWORTHY.

Notwithstanding the large quantity of pork carcases recently sent off to the London markets, on Thursday no less than 203 small porkers, averaging about 56lbs. per pig, were again despatched by rail – a total of over 11,350lbs. in one day.

A painful gloom was cast over the town on Friday morning when the death became known of a highly respected lady, the wife of Mr. George BRAUND, of Park View. Mrs. BRAUND has been rather ailing(?) for some time past. On Sunday she went to church and felt rather unwell towards the evening, but not at all apparently dangerously so. On Friday morning about two she became seriously ill, and about four her spirit took its flight. Before marriage Mrs. BRAUND was known as Miss Thirze HERN. Several of the HERN family are buried at Shebbear, where it is intended to convey the deceased's remains to-day.
