SAMPFORD COURTENAY.

A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the parish church on Wednesday, the contracting parties being Mr George BRAUND, of Plympton St Maurice, and Miss Emma PYKE, eldest daughter of Mr Samuel PYKE, of Sampford Chapple. The bride who was prettily attired was given away by her father. Miss Amelia PYKE (sister), and Miss J. HARRIS (cousin of the bride) were bridesmaids whilst Mr S. PYKE, of Clyst Hydon acted as best man. The Rev T. W. LITTLE officiated. The wedding party expressed their displeasure that there was no ringing to celebrate the happy event. This, however, was in no way intended as a slight, but was in fact, owing to a “split” which has recently occurred among the ringers.
