HOLCOMBE ROGUS.

The funeral took place in the Churchyard, Holcombe Rogus, on Monday, of Mr. John TOOZE. Deceased, who was 64 years of age, had resided in the village all his life, and was a valued workman for the Squire on the Holcombe Court Estate. He was of an amiable disposition, always ready to do a good turn, and was held in the highest esteem by all. The funeral service in the Parish Church and also at the graveside was conducted by the Vicar (Rev. E. J. BARTON). The family mourners were: Mrs. TOOZE (widow), Mr. L. TOOZE (son), Mr. S. TOTTLE (stepson), Mrs. L. TOOZE (daughter-in-law), Mr. D. TOTTLE (step-son), Mrs. A. KINGSLEY (stepdaughter), William and Emily TOTTLE (stepson and stepdaughter), Mrs. S. SIBLEY, Mrs. L. SIBLEY (Bristol), Mrs. CANEY, and Mrs. M. TOOZE (nieces), Mr. and Mrs. C. TROAKE (brother-in-law and sister of the widow), Messrs. F. TOOZE and T. WOODBURY (cousins). Among those present were: Mr. W. R. RAYER (Holcombe Court), Mr. C. Elton CAREY (estate agent), Misses SQUIRE, B. and E. BURGESS, Messrs. L. A. GUNN and H. CURTISS (staff at the Court), Mesdames W. BERRY, T. TREVELYAN, CORK, GILL, DOWN, J. CUMMINGS, W. TOOZE, U. BOWERMAN, FIELD, WEBBER, H. BERRY, GARDINER, BISS, DRAKE, and BROOM, Nurse DAMON, Misses MATTHEWS and A. SLOMAN, Messrs. S. JONES, J. TROAKE, H. KERSWELL, R. FRY, H. JONES, and J. BAILEY (Westleigh). The coffin was of unpolished elm, and the breastplate was inscribed:- “John Tooze, died April 3rd, 1930, aged 64 years.” There were many beautiful floral tributes.

Members of the Mothers' Union were addressed by Mrs. FURSDON, of Exeter, last week. Corporate Communion was conducted in the morning by the Vicar (Rev. E. J. BARTON).
