BURIAL OF A NOBLE DEVON SEA KING

Late Christopher BRAUND, of Bucks Mills

End of Adventurous Life

AT REST WITHIN SOUND OF THE WAVES

A noble son of the “Shire of Sea Kings,” Mr. Christopher BRAUND, member of an historic clan of hardy seafarers, the BRAUNDs of Bucks Mills, was last Saturday laid to rest in a quiet corner of Devon at Bucks Mills, within the sound of the sea waves, whose call he answered in boyhood and whose dangers he had braved during many years of his adventur-life. <sic> At the age of 87 the late Mr. BRAUND passed away at Bideford on Tuesday week, and, on Saturday, took his last journey along the pleasant, open country between Bideford and Bucks, where he made his final anchorage with other members of his family, of whom he was the last surviving member of the eleven children of Mr. James BRAUND, for many years known as the King of Bucks Mills.

The Vicar of Bucks Mills (Rev. Guy S. WHITAKER) officiated at the funeral service, and Miss DARK presided at the organ. The hymns were “Abide with me” and “Lead kindly light.”

DAVEY, and Mrs. C. BRAUND (nephews and nieces), Mesdames E. DAVEY and E. BRAUND (sisters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. J. HUXTABLE, Mrs. W. BAGLOW, and Miss Susie FERRETT.
