OLD-TIME COACHING HOSTELRY SOLD

The “George” at South Molton Changes Hands

The George Hotel, South Molton, one of the best known hotels in North Devon, has changed hands, Mr. and Mrs. H. REEVE, who have owned it since 1919, having disposed of the property to Mr. F. A. OATEN, who formerly had an hotel at Bedford, and for several months has been living at Exeter.

Mr. and Mrs. REEVE are leaving South Molton, and will reside at Barnstaple for a time.


The George Hotel is mentioned in “Lorna Doone,” is one of the coaching hostelries of olden days, and is situated in a district famous for its hunting, fishing and shooting.

One of its former proprietors, Mr. S. P. KELLAND, was Master of the South Molton Harriers.
