TAUNTON CENTENARIAN.
Pilion Ride on Motor-Cycle When Over 100.
The death has just takn <sic> place at East Tytherton, near Chippenham, of Mrs. Sarah BROOMFIELD, who was born in February, 1824, and had she lived another month would have been 103. Mrs. BROOMFIELD belonged to Exeter, but when a young woman removed to Taunton, where she married Mr Samuel BROOMFIELD, a farm bailiff, who died in 1900, aged 78 years. The old lady continued to reside in Taunton with her son, Mr. John BROOMFIELD, until a year ago, when she moved to East Tytherton to reside with another son. She did the journey by motor-car, and was not in the least tired of it; indeed, she expressed a wish for another ride. Since she had lived at Tytherton, Mrs. BROOMFIELD had, until the winter set in, regularly walked about the village by herself, and she had even had a short ride as pillion on a motor-cycle. Last summer she presented the prizes at a village fete.
