WEDDING BELLS AT SHEPHERD'S BUSH

TWO WELL-KNOWN FAMILIES UNITED.

A pretty wedding took place at the Shepherd's Bush Road Methodist Church last Saturday afternoon, when the marriage of Olive Ada, only daughter of Mr and Mrs. L. SALWAY, of Fivehead, Somersetshire, and Arthur James, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. LUCAS, of 111, Shepherd's Bush Road, was solemnized

Great interest was taken in the ceremony, as not only are both families well-known in the district, but they have made their influence for good felt to an abnormal degree

Mr. SALWAY, who now lives in well-earned retirement at Fivehead, was a staunch member at the Baptist Tabernacle Church. He was also a musician of no mean order, and in addition to being the bass player in the Brotherhood Orchestra, he spent over twenty-one years as its secretary

Mr. LUCAS and his family have, for many years, carried on the business of caterers in Shepherd's Bush Road, and they have all been life-long and active members of the Methodist Church. Mr. LUCAS is also well-known locally as a member of the executive of the Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush Chamber of Trade and Commerce, and vice-chairman of the National Caterers' Protection Society.

The officiating minister was the Rev. S. STAINTON-MARRIS, of Harrow, who beautifully stressed the importance of love as an unfailing factor of wedded life. The bride looked very charming in a bridal gown of pure white satin, with a veil, and carrying a bouquet of beautiful red roses. Her bridesmaids were the Misses Ivy Florence, Rose Mary, and Lily Constance (sisters of the bridegroom) and Miss Barbara PRATT, while the duties of best man were performed by Mr. Edwin A. LAW. A pretty coloured effect was given by the bridesmaids' voile dresses, two of which were of floral design on a lemon ground and two on a blue, and the bridesmaids each carried a sheaf of yellow roses.

The church was full, and the sun, kindly scintillating through the windows, the hearty singing and the fervent prayers, all added to the solemnity and happiness of the atmosphere. The reception was held at the Church Hall and was enjoyed by over sixty relatives and friends. Mr. C. WHITNEY toasted the bride and bridegroom, the bridegroom responding, and in reply to shouts of “Speech,” the bride made a charming little speech that enhanced the whole proceedings and surprised the demanders of “speech.”

Mr SALWAY proposed the toast of the bridesmaids and Mr. LAW responded for the bridesmaids. The Rev. S. STAINTON-MARRIS gave the toast of the host and hostess, and Mr. SALWAY toasted the mother and father of the bridegroom. Mr. LUCAS very wittily replying.

The happy couple left by car for Lynton, and they carry with them not only the good wishes of those present, but the blessings of many other people who know the sterling wealth of character that both have developed.

Numerous presents were received, amongst which were two cheques, one from the bride's father and another from the bridegroom's father.
