ILMINSTER.

AN OLD INHABITANT PASSES AWAY. - One of the oldest inhabitants of the town, Mr. Eli WEBB, a retired tradesman, died on Monday morning at the age of 92 years. The deceased had been ailing some years, but retained consciousness to the end.

MEETING OF CHANGE RINGERS. - The annual meeting of the Crewkerne Deanery branch of the Diocesan Association of Change Ringers was held on Saturday, the towers represented being Taunton St. Mary, Taunton St. James, Curry Rivel, Langport, Martock, Winsham, and Ilminster. A service was held at St. Mary's Church, after which the party, which numbered 30, sat down to tea. At the business meeting following, the Rev. J. HAMLET was re-elected president, and Mr. D. G. TAYLOR secretary for the ensuing year. The remainder of the evening was spent in the belfry, where some capital changes were rung.

GOLDEN WEDDING CELEBRATION AT DILLINGTON FARM, - On April 19th, Mr. and Mr.<sic> George BRIDGE, of Dillington Farm, celebrated their Golden Wedding. They were married at Puckington in the year 1860, Mrs. BRIDGE being the fifth daughter of Edmonds VILE, of Puckington, and Mr. BRIDGE the oldest son of Stephen BRIDGE, of the same parish. Those present on the occasion included their oldest son, William, and his wife, from London; F. and E. BRIDGE, two sons from British Columbia, who returned after an absence of twenty years; their youngest daughter, Emma; Mr. and Mrs. R. DRAYTON, of Dillington; Mr. and Mrs. W. BAILEY, of Stocklinch, sister and brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. BRIDGE; also a number of friends. Besides those present, are two daughters, Annie and Mary, in Canada, who were unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. BRIDGE received many congratulations, also presents from their family and friends. The day was spent in a very pleasant manner. Mr. and Mrs. BRIDGE have resided at Dillington Farm for forty-four years, being in the employ of Mr. Obed HOSEGOOD and the latter's father continuously.

SALE OF WORK AT OLD MEETING. - In aid of the fund for a new organ at the Old Meeting (Unitarian) Church, a sale of useful and fancy work was held on Thursday in the schoolroom. A pleasing interest was taken in the function, and the friends in the connexion worked most heartily to make it a success. A bazaar was organised by the Dorcas Society, over which Miss BAKER presided, the principal helpers being Miss HUTCHINGS, Mrs. H. HUTCHINGS, Mrs. VENTON, Mrs. CLAPP, and Miss BOOBY. The various stalls with their staffs of assistants are comprised in the following list:- Fancy Needlework, Misses BOOBY and WILKINS; Plain Needlework, Mrs. H. HUTCHINGS and Mrs. VENTON; Fancy China Stall, Mrs. MARKS and Miss HELLIAR; Flower Stall, Misses WHEADON and DINHAM; Refreshments, Mrs. CLAPP, Mrs. W. R. RELEEN, and Miss HUTCHINGS. Bran Tubs, Misses E. HELLIAR, F. HUTCHINGS, VENTON, S. HALLETT, K. CLAPP, Mabel COOMBES; Weighing Machine and Fine Art Gallery, Mr. G. W. HUNT. The Wesley Guild orchestra did excellent service, and rendered a most taking selection of music during the evening. Also in the musical line should be mentioned two concerts, with recitations and sketches thrown in to make up a capital programme as follows:- First Concert:- Duet, “Tell me, gentle stranger,” Misses LEGG and VENTON; solo, “The Diver,” Mr. W. E. RELLEEN(?); Recitation Mrs. CAUDLE's(?) Curtain Lecture,” Miss BLAKE; solo, “Down by the Ferry,” Miss HELLIAR; sketch, “The Vicious Circle,” Mr. & Miss BLAKE. Second concert: Duet, “Larboard Watch,” Messrs. RELLEEN and Daniel; solo, “Who'll buy my Lavender,” Miss LEGG; duet, “Hunting Tower,” Miss HELLIAR and Mr. RELLEEN; duet, “The Gipsy Countess,” Miss VENTON and Mr. RELLEEN; sketch, Miss VENTON, Messrs. WHEADON, jun., and G. W. HUNT. The sale was opened at 6 o'clock by Mrs. Robert BLACK, of Yeabridge, South Petherton, who was introduced by the Pastor, the Rev. R. FINNERTY. Warm appreciation of Mrs. BLAKE's graceful act found expression in a hearty vote of thanks, which was proposed by Mr. M. B. BAKER, and carried with hearty acclamation. All the stalls did a brisk business.
