FATHER SAID:
NO BANK BOOK
-NO WEDDING

The father of a nineteen-year-old girl said yesterday that he refused to consent to her marriage partly because her fiance would not show him his bankbook.

Margarita FAULKNER, of Middle-street, Taunton, Somerset, and Charles John FOURACRE, 23, Carpenter, of Cheddon-road, Taunton, had asked Taunton magistrates for leave to marry.

Margarita's father, Charles John FAULKNER, said he and his wife approved the couple's marrying ultimately, but wanted them to have a good start in life.

Furnished Rooms

He added: “Had FOURACRE volunteered some information regarding his financial ability to provide for my daughter we might have thought differently.”

Charles and Margarita said they had saved to buy furniture when they got a house.

At present they had booked furnished rooms.

The application was granted.
