HAMBRIDGE.

DEATH OF MISS A. HOUSE.

The village has suffered a sad and pronounced loss by the death of Miss Annie HOUSE, of Hambridge. She passed away at the advanced age of 87 years on Friday, a week after her sister, the late Mrs. R. COATE, of Stathe House, Burrowbridge.

Miss HOUSE was well-known in the district. She was a niece of the late Mr. Levi GRIFFIN, of Aller Court and afterwards Portfield. She had lived in Hambridge nearly 40 years and was deeply interested in village affairs. She was very popular and highly esteemed for her genuine kindliness.

The funeral took place at the Hambridge church on Tuesday, a full choral service being conducted by the vicar, the Rev. H. R. WILLIMOTT. The lesson was read by the Rev. A. HOOK, of Chaffcombe, a former vicar of Hambridge. A large number attended to pay their last tribute of respect.

The principal mourners were Mr. W. H. COATE, nephew; Mr. and Mrs. S. R. COATE, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. GUY, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. COATE, nephews and nieces; Messrs. F. H. L., W. O., F. H. and P. COATE, and R. C. GUY, grand nephews; Mrs. S. SHEPPY, grand niece; Mr. F. ROBIN, cousin.

The attendance also included Mrs. CRABB, Mrs. PURSE, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. LACEY, Miss J.. CRABB, Mrs. F. STUCKEY, Mrs. BISHOP, Mr. George WILLS, Mr. and Mrs. WHITEHEAD, Messrs. J. L. CORNISH, J. LANG, jun., W. R. RICHARDS and George ALLEN, Mr. and Mrs. LOCKYER, Miss PRING (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. H. TOTTLE, Mrs. KERRISON, Mrs. ALFORD, Miss DUDMAN and others. - Messrs. BISHOP, CHUBB, BRISTER, PURSE, STEPHENS and REE were the bearers.
