TAUNTON POLICE COURT.

SATURDAY. - Before the Mayor, Messrs. Arthur KINGLAKE, A. MALET and Captain DOVETON.

AN INCORRIGIBLE. - A boy named PARKHOUSE, about 13 years of age, was summoned for wilfully knocking at the oor [sic] of house in Middle-street, occupied by Mr. WALKER, to the annoyance of the inmates, on the 31st August. Sarah Ann PARKHOUSE was the complainant. Defendant pleaded guilty. - Supt. GOLDSMITH explained that the complainant was the defendant's sister. Defendant was one of those unfortunate boys who was allowed to run about the streets without anyone to control or take care of him. He had been previously convicted for a similar offence, and had also been sent to prison for larceny. The sister was in respectable service, and the lad took every opportunity of annoying her by frequently knocking at the door and running away, and following her about the town and insulting her. - Defendant was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, and five years' confinement in a reformatory.

NO PAY. - Charlotte PARKER, a married woman, was summoned for using bad language, on the 31st August, in Paul-street. - Mr. WHITWHAM, the complainant, said on the previous morning when he was paying the poor the defendant came there and demanded two weeks' pay. He informed defendant that no pay had been ordered her. When he was leaving the pay-room she used bad language toward him. - Supt. GOLDSMITH said the defendant was of a very excitable nature, and had been previously confined in a lunatic asylum. She had been to him that morning, and appeared very weak and half starved. - Under the circumstances Mr. WHITWHAM withdrew the case.

THE RESULT OF NOT KEEPING AN APPOINTMENT. - Charles DUNN was summoned for assaulting his wife, Ann DUNN, on the Monday previous. - Complainant said her husband came to the place where she was living in service on Monday night, and, because she had not met him as promised on the previous night, he struck her in the eye and blackened it. He also struck her several times on other parts of her face. - Defendant admitted the assault and said he was sorry. - Fined 15s., including costs; in default, 10 days' imprisonment.

A BEAST. - Richard WIMBRIDGE, labourer, of Staple Fitzpaine, was charged with an unnatural offence, committed on the 25th of August. - Daniel DICKS gave evidence in support of the charge, and the prisoner was committed for trial.

WEDNESDAY. - Before the Mayor and Mr. Arthur KINGLAKE.

NO PROSECUTOR. - Sarah Ann HOLMAN, a girl, was charged with stealing a flannel shirt and petticoat, the property of a Mrs. LANE, of Tancred-street. The girl was given into custody on the previous night. No one appeared to prosecute, and prisoner was consequently discharged.

THURSDAY. - Before the Mayor.

DISORDERLY. - Sarah Jane Edwards BARTRAM and Ann Elizabeth FORSEY pleaded guilty to being disorderly prostitutes, and were each sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment.
