NORTH PETHERTON.
INQUEST. - On Monday evening, the 7th inst., an inquest was held before Mr. W. W. MUNCKTON, coroner, at North Moor, in this parish, on a little child aged 13 months, the son of William COLLARD, a labourer, who was badly burnt about the neck and shoulders by crawling in the fire on the 24th ult. - The mother of the child was the only witness, and sh estated <sic> that on the day in question she placed the child in a trundle in an inside room while she went to feed some pigs. On her return, about ten minutes afterwards, she found her child crawling out through the front door with his clothes on fire. She lifted him up, stripped him and applied grated potato and linseed oil. Mr. TODD, surgeon, was sent for, but not until the third day, and he continued to attend the little child, who lingered on until the 1st January, and then expired. - The jury returned a verdict of “Accidental death.”
