DINNINGTON

A TAUNTON WEDDING

MR. L. J. MAPLEDORAM AND MISS M. A. LARCOMBE

The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church, Taunton, Miss May Alice (Phyllis) LARCOMBE, of 2, Wellesley-street, Taunton, eldest daughter of the late Mr. T. LARCOMBE and Mrs. LARCOMBE, of Rose Cottage, Dinnington, near Crewkerne, and Mr. Leonard John MAPLEDORAM, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. MAPLEDORAM, of 7, Stephen-street, Taunton.

The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. D. ELIAS, and Mr. Lionel J. MAPLEDORAM was “best man.”

The bride's father was, some years ago, a well-known member of the Taunton R.F.C., and both the bride and bridegoom are members of the P.O. Engineers' Sports Club. The bridegoom is also a member of the Taunton Whist League.

The service was fully choral, Mr. H. J. SKINNER being at the organ. The bride was met at the church door by the choir, and the hymns. “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us.” and “The Voice that breather o'er Eden.” and the 67th Psalm were sung. During the signing of the register the organist played “O for the Wings of a Dove “

The bride, given away by her brother, Mr. William LARCOMBE, wore a dress of ivory satin beaute and an embroidered net veil, with wreath of orange blossom. She also wore a crystal necklet and silver shoes, and carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and white heather.

She had four attendants. They were Miss Constance LARCOMBE, a sister; Miss Hazel MAPLEDORAM, sister of the bridegroom; Miss Olive OVERDEN, a friend of the bride, and the bride's tiny niece, little Grace LARCOMBE. The three elder bridesmaids wore ankle-length dresses of floral silk georgette in pastel shades of blue, pink, and green, with picture hats and shoes to match. They carried bouquets of sweet peas and wore multi-coloured dress-clips, the gift of the bridegroom. The smaller bridesmaid's dress was an ankle-length one of white crepe-de-chine, with a pale blue sash. She wore a net bonnet with forget-me-nots and pink rosebuds, and a gold necklet, the gift of the bridegroom.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Deller's Cafe, attended by about 40 guests. Later the happy couple left for the honeymoon at West Bay, Bridport, the bride travelling in a floral silk dress and grey coat, with hat to match.

There was a large number of valuable and useful presents. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a sewing machine, while the bride's gift consisted of a pair of cuff links.
