DEATH OF MRS. S. LING

FUNERAL AT ST. JAMES', TAUNTON

Mrs. Emma LING, a member of a well-known Somerset farming family, died on Friday of last week in her 90th year. She was the widow of Mr. Sidney LING, who died exactly a year ago. He farmed Hankridge Farm, Bathpool, for 45 years, and on his retirement in 1918 his son succeeded him.

Mrs. LING, who was born at Weston Zoyland, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. PEPPARD. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. COX, of East Reach Dairy, Taunton. She leaves three sons and two daughters. A son, Mr. Theodore LING, now farms Hankridge Farm.

The funeral service in St. James' Church on Tuesday afternoon was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. Walter GREEN). The hymns were “Abide with Me” and “Our Blest Redeemer.” Mr. Wesley HAMMET, the organist, played Handel's Largo as the coffin was carried from the church.

The principal mourners were Mr. T. LING, Mr. L. LING, and Mr. M. LING (sons), Mr. and Mrs. R. W. MITCHEM (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. K. COX (daughter), Mr. E. MITCHEM and Mr. S. MITCHEM (grandsons), Mrs. C. RICHARDS, Mrs. W. BURGE, Mrs. C. SPILLER and Mrs. S. PERRY (grand-daughters), Mr. W. PEPPARD, Mr. E. DORSE and Mr. R. PEPPARD (nephews), Mr. W. BURGE, Mr. H. DORSE, Mrs. F. HITCHCOCK, Mrs. M. STEPHENS, Mr. H. GARLAND, Mr. D. LOCK, Mrs. A. COX, Mr. R. COX, Mrs. H. ROWSELL, Mr. R. GREADY, Mr. J. RICHARDS, Mr. E. WYATT.

Among others who attended the funeral were Miss M. VOYSEY and Mrs. M. PRIDDY.

The funeral arrangements were made by Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, Haydon-road, Taunton.
