STOCKLINCH

GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. MARK GUMMER'S ANNIVERSARY.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark GUMMER, of Underhill Farm, Stocklinch, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Monday and received many congratulations. They have lived in the centuries old farmhouse for over thirty years, though Mr. GUMMER retired from active work some years ago and his son farms the land.

Mr. and Mrs GUMMER were married at South Petherton Parish Church on July 5th, 1887, the officiating minister being the Rev. W. S. BRUCE, vicar of the parish. Mr. GUMMER was the fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark GUMMER, of Stocklinch, whilst the bride, Miss Florence MILLER, was second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. MILLER, of Fore-street, Seaton. After their wedding they lived at various places in the Chard district before settling down at Stocklinch, and Mr. GUMMER was a familiar figure in the Chard and Ilminster markets before he retired.

At a family re-union on the previous Sunday there was a happy gathering of their six children and ten grandchildren, and they received many presents and congratulations from members of the family and friends.
