BARRINGTON HUNTSMAN WEDS

BRIDE FROM SHEPTON BEAUCHAMP

PRESENTATION FROM HUNT MEMBERS

The wedding took place at Shepton Beauchamp Parish Church on Thursday of Mr. Edgar Wilfred BRIDGE fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. BRIDGE, of Barrington, and Miss Rosina Emily CORNELIUS, youngest daughter of Mr. Jehu CORNELIUS, and the late Mrs. CORNELIUS, of Shunty Farm, Shepton Beauchamp.

The bridegroom is kennel huntsman of the Barrington Court Beagles and is popular with members of that Hunt; he is also a playing member of the Barrington Cricket Club. As the bridal couple left the church after the ceremony the Beagles were waiting in the village street to greet them.

The Rector (the Rev. F. B. TAYLOR) officiated at the choral service, the hymns sung being “How welcome was the call” and “Thine for ever.” Miss Sybil ROWSWELL, the organist, played the “Bridal Chorus,” from “Lohengrin” before the service and Mendelssohn's “Wedding March” afterwards. The church bells were rung throughout the afternoon.

The bride, who was given away by her eldest brother, Mr. T. CORNELIUS, wore a dress of silver lace with veil forming a train and carried a bouquet of white carnations. The bridesmaids were four little girls, the Misses Edna REYLAND (niece of the bride), Betty CORNELIUS (niece of the bride), and Doreen and Eileen MEAD (nieces of the bridegroom). They wore ankle-length dresses of eau de nil crepe de chine with gold shoes and gold halo head-dresses and carried posies of gold chrysanthemums. The page was Master Graham FEVIN (nephew of the bride), who wore green satin trousers with a white blouse. As the bride left the church he handed her a silver horseshoe. Mr. Fred BRIDGE, brother of the bridegroom, was “best man.”

A reception was afterwards held at the Parish Hall, and later in the day Mr. and Mrs. BRIDGE left for their honeymoon in South Wales, the bride travelling in a blue Harris tweed costume with hat and shoes to tone.

A RECEPTION

The Barrington Beagles met at Shepton on Wednesday and Mr. R. G. TALBOT made a public presentation to the bridegroom of a canteen of cutlery given by members and followers of the Hunt. He spoke of the bridegroom's hard work for the Beagles, and said they all wished him every happiness. Mr. BRIDGE suitably replied.

At a meet at Lopen Head, on Tuesday, Captain MATTERSON (Huntsman) presented Mr. BRIDGE with an eight-day clock from himself, Mrs. MATTERSON and family. Captain BEACHAM gave a silver cruet set, while members of the Barrington Cricket Club gave a barometer.
