The funeral took place at Thorne St. Margaret Churchyard on Monday afternoon of Mrs. Constance Jane CHANNON, of Bristol, and formerly of Thorne St. Margaret. She was 69 years of age and died suddenly while on a visit to her brother, Mr. C. COLLARD, of Enmore, near Bridgwater.

Mrs. CHANNON lived at Baizley Farm, Thorne St. Margaret, for about 30 years, but left for Bristol seven years ago, following the death of her husband. She was organist at Thorne Church for a number of years. Mrs. CHANNON leaves three sons and one daughter, all being in Canada except Mr. Wallace CHANNON, of “Glenlee,” Waterloo-road, Wellington.


Burial took place on Monday in the grave of her husband. The service in the church was conducted by the Rev. A. P. ALLAN (vicar), and Mr. Ronald PHILLIPS, lay reader. Mr. ALLAN performed the committal rites. The hymns were “Jesu, Lover of my soul” and “Thine for ever, God of love.” Mr. C. TROAKE was the organist.

The mourners were:- Mr. and Mrs. Wallace CHANNON, son and daughter-in-law; Mr. Clement COLLARD (Enmore), brother; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford COLLARD (Bristol), brother and sister-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. A. D. COLLARD (Bristol), nephew and niece; Mr. Henry COLLARD (Bristol), nephew; Mrs. M. CALCUTT (Bristol), niece; Mr. and Mrs. Victor COLLARD (Bristol), nephew and niece; Mr. L. BLACKMORE (Bristol), nephew; Mr. William CHANNON (Dorset), brother-in-law; Miss Florence CHANNON (Cullompton), sister-in-law; Mr. Henry WINTER (Wellington), Mr. MILES (Enmore), Miss M. HURFORD, Miss H. MASSEY (friends).

Others at the church and graveside included Mr. R. GIBBONS (Holywell Lake), Miss G. MORGAN (representing Major MORGAN), Mrs. J. STONE, Mrs. C. PERRY, Mrs. J. WARREN, Mrs. W. H. BAKER, Mrs. E. FOURACRE, Mrs. E. PRUST, Mrs. G. TOOGOOD (Harpford), Mrs. L. HARVEY, Mrs. A. RICHARDS (Holywell Lake), Mrs. G. HILL, Mrs. W. BAKER, Mrs. E. FLAY (Enmore).

The bearers were all old friends of the family, Messrs. J. BAKER, S. HORRILL, H. HORRILL, and E. PRUST.
