WEDDING AT WEST BUCKLAND

MR. W. D. OATEN AND MISS SHEILA BLACKWELL

The wedding of Mr. Wilfred Donald OATEN only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. OATEN, Cadleigh's Stores, Wellington-road, Taunton, and Miss Sheila BLACKWELL, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. D. BLACKWELL, of 4, Chelston, Taunton, took place at St. Mary's Church, West Buckland, on Saturday. The bridegroom is a wireless operator attached to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Another wireless operator, Mr. Harold MARSH, was “best man.”

The Vicar of West Buckland performed the ceremony.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle length gown of oyster satin beaute cut on classical lines. Her veil was embroidered with true lovers' knots, completed with a coronet of orange blossom in pearl. She also wore shoes and stockings to match, and carried a shower bouquet of roses and white heather.

The bouquet was the gift of her uncle, Mr. F. SYDENHAM, of Buckwell Nurseries.

Miss Diana SYDENHAM, cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid. She was prettily attired in a Kate GREENAWAY gown of apple green charmeuse with a small pattern of rosebuds and violets. She wore a wreath of pink rosebuds and carried a posy of roses, violets, and white heather.

The bride's mother's outfit consisted of a navy edge-to-edge coat with dress and hat to match, and a shoulder spray of roses.

The bridegroom's mother was dressed in a rust-coloured two-piece with hat to match, and a shoulder spay of roses.

The bridegroom's present to the bride was a pink pearl and chronium dressing table set. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a fountain pen and propelling pencil, and the bridegroom's present to the bridesmaid was a diamond hair clip.

A reception at the bride's home was attended by nearly 50 guests.
The bride and bridegroom have received many useful gifts.
