WEDDING ARCHWAY OF SPLINTS


Men of the Red Cross Ambulance Detachment, formed a guard of honour with an archway of splints, at St. James' Church, Taunton, on Saturday, when one of their members, Mr. David Thomas HAWKINS, was married. Mr. HAWKINS, who is the son of Mrs. HAWKINS, and the late Mr. Charles HAWKINS, of Tone Cottage, Duke-street, Taunton, was married to Miss Blanche Ellen OATEN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. OATEN, of 8, Wood-street, Taunton. The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. Walter GREEN.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin, with a veil and halo of daisies and camellias. Her bouquet was of pink carnations. Miss Kathleen Mary OATEN, sister of the bride, and Miss Edith M. HAWKINS, sister of the bridegroom were the bridesmaids. They wore dresses of mauve marocain. The bridegroom's brother, Mr. James HAWKINS, was the “best man.” The bride's mother wore a dress of brown figured silk, and the bridegroom's mother a dress of navy blue silk.
