NORTH PETHERTON

CRICKET CLUB. - Mr. E. J. ROGERS presided at a meeting of the Cricket Club Committee when it was decided to hold the annual dance on Thursday, January 11th.

PAROCHIAL CHARITIES. - The annual distribution of coal and bread to old-age pensioners and other needy persons in the village took place during the past week.

Coal has been distributed by the local branch of Toc H.

GREETINGS FOR FORCES. - A small pocket Testament and card with greetings from the church has been dispatch to men serving with the Forces who have attended the Congregational Church Sunday School. The cost has been provided by voluntary contributions.

FIRE AT BATTS HOUSE

Bridgwater Fire Brigade were called on Wednesday morning to Batts House, North Petherton, the residence of Mr. G. CARNE WILLIAMS. They found the floor boards heated in a bedroom, and it was necessary to remove the grate and hearth to get at the joists, which were smouldering. The Brigade were on duty for two hours, and succeeded in confining the damage to the joists and grate.

MARRIAGE OF MR. F. BOND AND MISS P. J. BRAMLEY

The wedding took place at the Parish Church on Sunday of Miss Phyllis Joan BRAMLEY, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred BRAMLEY, of Hyde Park, North Petherton, and Mr. Frederick BOND, only son of Mr. A. BOND and the late Mrs. BOND, of Taunton-road, Bridgwater. The Vicar (the Rev. J. ADDY) officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a navy costume, with hat and shoes to match, and silver fox fur. She wore a spray of lilies of the valley and white heather.

Mr. Kenneth MOATE, cousin of the bridegroom, was “best man.”

Mr. W. HAMPHREY (organist) played Wagner's “Bridal March” as the bride entered, and Mendelssohn's “Wedding March” as the bride and bridegroom left the church.

Following a reception at their future home, Taunton-road, Mr. and Mrs. BOND left for Cardiff, where the honeymoon is being spent.
