A POPULAR CHILD

LATE AUDREY JEAN SLOCOMBE.

Much sympathy has been expressed with Mr. and Mrs. W. SLOCOMBE and family, of Dawes Farm, in the sad loss they have sustained by the death on Friday of their five-year-old daughter, Audrey Jean. She had been ill only a fortnight. Audrey attended St. Margaret's School, Bridgwater, where she was very popular with the teachers and children.

The funeral took place on Tuesday at the cemetery, following a service conducted by the Rev. S. J. ROBINS at the Congregational Church.

The hymn, “There's a home for little children,” was sung, Mr. A. J. BRADBEER being the organist. The coffin, of unpolished oak, with chromium fittings, bore a breastplate, “Audrey Jean SLOCOMBE, died November 17th, 1939, aged 5 years, 9 months.”

The family mourners were:- Mr. and Mrs. W. SLOCOMBE, father and mother; John and Joan, brother and sister; Mr. J. SLOCOMBE, grandfather; Mr. and Mrs. J. BOND, Mr. and Mrs. H. DAY, Mr. and Mrs. PANTING, Mr. and Mrs. C. COATE, Mr. and Mrs. A. BREWER, uncles and aunts; Miss G. COATE and Mrs. L. BOND, cousins; Mrs. J. SLOCOMBE and Mrs. S. SLOCOMBE.
