CURRY RIVEL.

A DANCE was held in the Sewers Hall on Friday in aid of the funds of the Football Club. Music for the dancing was played by Fred Perry's Dance Orchestra. Refreshments were served by Mrs. A. ROGERS, and Door stewards were Messrs. A. MACEY and H. PERRY. Prizes were awarded in a statue dance and elimination dance. - Earlier in the evening a team from street played the Curry Rivel team at Burton, the Street team proving victorius by two goals to nil.

GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. F. BURROWS ANNIVERSARY.

Mr. and Mrs. F. BURROWS, of 5, Honeylands, celebrated their golden wedding on Friday week. They were married at St. Catherine's Church, Drayton, on April 21st 1889, by the Rev. W. ALFORD.

Mr. BURROWS is the eldest surviving son of the late Mr. and Mrs. BURROWS, of Seavington and Mrs. BURROWS is the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. BEST, of Drayton. Mr. BURROWS entered the Post-office at Glasgow in 1883, as a sorting clerk, and transferred to Cardiff for 19 years, and retired in 1921. He was awarded the Imperial Service Medal and a pension from the department. Mr. BURROWS enjoys good health, but Mrs. BURROWS has been an invalid for some years.

Miss W. BURROWS(?), of Curry Rivel, and Mrs. F. KNELLER, of Wigan, are their only two surviving children. There is one grand-daughter , Miss Lorna KNELLER.

Mr. and Mrs. BURROWS were the recipients of numerous congratulatory telegrams and personal congratulations and among many visitors who called were the Vicar of Drayton (the Rev. R. J. HAWKINS).

THE LATE MR. JACOB COATE

The death occurred on Wednesday last week of Mr. Jacob COATE, who formerly lived at Red Hill, Curry Rivel, for many years. Although he had not been well for some considerable time, he was only seriously ill about three days. He was aged 76 years.

Son of the late Mr. Henry COATE, of Red Hill, he carried on business as a withy merchant for many years, and he was particularly popular with those who came under his charge. Later he removed to Stathe, whilst five weeks ago he went to live at Langport where his death occurred. He was unmarried, and was of a quiet and retiring disposition. He was formerly a member of the local Drainage Board for several years but apart from this took no active part in public work.

The funeral took place at Curry Rivel on Saturday, a service at the cemetery being conducted by the Vicar (Rev. J. H. T. MAUDE-ROXBY). The principal mourners were:- Mr H. COATE, Langport (brother), Miss P. COATE, Langport (niece), Mr. Mark SHERRIN and Miss SHERRIN, Curry Rivel (cousins), Mrs. B. HEMBROW (friend). Mr. C. H. COATE (nephew), Mrs. H. COATE (sister-in-law) and Mrs. LUCAS were unable to attend through indisposition.

Among others present to pay their last tribute of respect were Mr. and Mrs. Howard COATE (Stathe), Mr. and Mrs. B. B. GUY (Weston-super-Mare), Messrs. Ben HECTOR, Cecil HECTOR, F. STOKES, W. HOUSE, W. J. CUMMINGS, Herbert LANGFORD, Fred and J. LANGFORD (Red Hill), and others.

The bearers were four brothers, Messrs R., F., H and J. HEMBROW.

There were numerous beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends.
