CHRISTMAS SERVICES. - The Blessing of the Crib took place at evensong on Christmas Eve. There were two celebrations of the Holy Communion on Christmas morning, followed by sung Eucharist. The Rector conducted all the services, and the church was decorated by lady members of the congregation.

PARISH CHURCH WEDDING

MR. HUGH GUMMER AND MISS OLIVE POND.

The wedding took place at the Parish Church on Boxing-day of Mr. Hugh GUMMER, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. GUMMER, of Rosedene, Shepton Beauchamp, and Miss Olive POND, youngest daughter of Mr. A. POND and the late Mrs. POND, of Rose Cottage, Shepton Beauchamp. The church was filled with friends of the popular young couple. The service, conducted by the Rector (the Rev. F. B. TAYLOR) included the hymns “How Welcome was the Call.” and “Lead Us Heavenly Father.” Miss Sybil ROWSWELL was organist, and played Mendelssohn's “Wedding March” and other bridal music.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her eldest brother, Mr. Leonard POND, wore a gown of white georgette with ruched waist and veil, and wreath of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of red carnations and white heather.

There were four bridal attendants. The bridesmaids, Miss Doreen GRAY (friend of the bride) and Miss Brenda HOLMAN (cousin of the bridegroom) wore ankle-length dresses of flame coloured silk with halo head-dresses to match, secured by silver cords. They carried bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums. The child attendants, little Constance SCOTT (niece of the bridegroom) and Rita POND (niece of the bride) wore dresses of primrose flowered silk, with Juliet caps, and carried Victorian posies of red carnations and yellow chrysanthemums. All the attendants wore gold crosses, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. W. SCOTT (brother-in-law of the bridegroom) was “best man.” As the bride left the church she was handed a silver horseshoe by little Jean POND, her niece.

The reception was held at the Parish Hall, over sixty guests being present. The numerous presents included gifts to the bridegroom from his employer, Mr. P. F. SHAW, of the firm of Messrs. Bray & Sons, The Borough, Yeovil, and also from the staff of the firm.

Mr. and Mrs. GUMMER will make their home at Shepton Beauchamp.
