ILE BREWERS
MARRIAGE OF MR. L. F. HEWLETT AND MISS D. L. HOCKEY
At All Saints Church on Saturday Leslie Frank HEWLETT, third son of Mr. and Mrs. HEWLETT, Cromwell-road, Taunton, was married to Miss Doris Louvain HOCKEY, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. HOCKEY, of Walrond's Park. The Rev. J. E. ROGERS, vicar of Ilton and Ile Brewers, officiated. The altar was beautifully decorated by Miss HARRISON, and the gateway was also decorated by the Sexton (Mr. H. ADAMS). Mrs. F. SPEARING was at the organ for the choral service.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a white satin dress, with spray of flowers trimming the neck-line, coronet head-dress, and veil, kindly lent by a friend. She carried a sheaf of lilies. The bridesmaids were:- Miss Clarice HOCKEY (sister of the bride), Miss Ethel HEWLETT (sister of the bridegroom), little Miss Mary HOCKEY (sister of the bride), and little Miss Shirley WELCH, Ilminster (cousin of the bride). They wore gowns of green taffeta, with green veils, silver leaves and carried sprays of mixed flowers. The “best man” was Mr. K. WELLMAN, of Ilminster (friend of the bridegroom).
The reception at the home of the bride's parents was attended by about 30 guests. Presents included a clock from the bride's employers, Mr. and Mrs. SAMSON, of High-street, Taunton. The bride was presented with a lucky mascot by Miss Jean SQUIRES, and a silver horse shoe by Miss Betty WELLMAN. Touches were rung on the church bells.
