FUNERAL OF MR. W. OATEN
The funeral of Mr. Walter OATEN (50), of 14, Pope's Lane, Rockwell Green, former well-known Rugby player, whose death was reported in our last issue, took place at the Wellington Cemetery on Tuesday.
The Rev. Kenneth E. HYDE, assistant pastor of the Rockwell Green Baptist Chapel, conducted the service.
The family mourners were Mrs. W. OATEN (widow), Messrs. Percy and Gethyn OATEN (sons), Miss P. OATEN (daughter), Mrs. H. J. THORNE, Miss. F. MOLES, Taunton (sister), Messrs. C. and P. OATEN (brothers), Mrs. E. MAGGS, Wrexham (mother-in-law), Mr. H. J. THORNE, Mr. F. MOLES (brothers-in-law), Mrs. W. H. TUCK (cousin).
Mrs. P. OATEN (daughter-in-law), and Mr. H. OATEN, Birmingham (brother) were unable to attend owing to indisposition.
Others present included Mr. P. C. BROWN, representing Wellington Comrades' Club; Mr. H. POWELL (an old Rugby Club colleague), Mr. L. L. COOK, Mrs. E. SIMMONS, Mrs. H. HIGGINS, Mrs. D. HEMBURROW, Mrs. C. SPILLER, Mrs. K. RICH, Mrs. H. CHORLEY, Mrs. J. REX, Mrs. W. REX, Mrs. C. TOWELL.
The interment took place in the same grave as that of his father and mother.
Among the flowers were tributes from the Comrades' Club, Wellington; and friends from the Barlow Mow Inn and the Weavers Arms.
