STOKE ST. GREGORY

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. - The monthly meeting was held in the Church Sunday School-room on Wednesday. Owing to an epidemic of influenza there was only a small attendance. The President was in the chair. After the business, Mr. CAIRNS, of Monkton Heathfield, gave the first of a series of lectures on “International Affairs.” Mrs. S. WILLIAMS proposed, and Mrs. R. GARLEND seconded a vote of thanks to Mr. CAIRN. Mrs. WHITE judged the competition for marmalade, in which several members gained full marks. Notice was given of the group meeting at North Curry on Tuesday, February 27th. It was arranged to hold a concert in aid of funds for comforts for the troops and the Red Cross on Friday, April 5th. The Comforts Committee wrote expressing thanks for comforts sent from the W.I. Miss K. BOOBYER and Miss DUNELL were the tea hostesses. The next monthly meeting is on Wednesday, March 13th.
