LOSS TO ST. ANDREW'S

DEATH OF MRS. H. J. BRAUND

Mrs. Harriett Elizabeth BRAUND, aged 78, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. BURROWS, 57, Greenway-crescent, on Wednesday of last week. She was the wife of Mr. Harry J. BRAUND and the eldest daughter of the late Mr Thomas SMITH, of Farnborough.

Mr. and Mrs. BRAUND have lived in the Rowbarton district for the past 50 years.

Mrs. BRAUND was a regular worshipper at St. Andrew's Church and a valued church worker until her health failed. She was also a member of the Mothers' Union, and took an active part in the Scout movement, for which she was presented with a gold brooch by Lord Baden POWELL. Her health had been failing for the past few years. Sympathy has been expressed with Mr. BRAUND and his two sons and two daughters. One son and a daughter are in Australia.

The oak coffin, with brass fittings, was taken into St. Andrew's Church on Friday evening for the funeral service at noon on Saturday. It was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. F. L. SHEPPERD, assisted by the Rev. D. ELIAS. The surpliced choir led the singing of the hymns “Jesu, Lover of My Soul” and “The King of Love.” The 90th Psalm was chanted, and as the coffin was carried from the church the choir sang the “Nunc Dimittis.” Mr. TOTTLE was at the organ, in the absence of Mr. L. A. HULATT.

The mourners were:- Mr. H. J. BRAUND (husband), Mr. Tom BRAUND (son), Mr J. BRAUND, Congresbury (brother-in-law), Mr. J. BURROWS (son-in-law).

A large number of friends attended, and there were many floral tributes.

The funeral arrangements were made by Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, Haydon-road, Taunton.
