HOSPITAL SERVICE

DOCTOR DEPUTISES FOR M.P.

Mr Vernon BARTLETT, M.P., having gone to Moscow was unable to visit North Petherton on Sunday for the 19th annual service at the Congregational Church on behalf of Bridgwater Hospital, and Dr. M. P. REDDINGTON, of Bridgwater, took his place.

Ald. S. BERRY, of Bridgwater, presided – as he has done on eight previous occasions – and the soloist was a Britsol <sic> evacuee Master Terence WOOFF, who gave a charming rendering of “Mighty like a rose.” The singing was led by the organ and an orchestra, comprising Messrs. C. W. CLATWORTHY, V WARREN, E. MILLER, and S. MAJOR.

In an able address Dr. REDDINGTON appealed for whole-hearted support for the noble work carried on at Bridgwater Hospital. When, at the close of the service, it was announced the collections totalled over £15, thanks were expressed to the helpers, among whom are Mr. A. BINDING, who has undertaken the task every year since the efforts inception.
