CANADIAN AIRMAN BURIED AT SOMERSET BRIDGE
HOME OF GRANDPARENTS
The funeral took place at Somerset Bridge on Wednesday week of Sergt.-Pilot John Albert PARKER, Royal Canadian Air Force, who died on active service on August 28th at the age of 23. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. John PARKER, of Toronto, and grandson of Mrs. J. PARKER, Somerset Bridge.
A service was held at Somerset Bridge Chapel, Mrs. KNEE, at the organ, played Handel's Largo and other appropriate music, and the hymn “Abide With Me” was sung. The interment followed at North Petherton. The Rev. V. E. KNEE (Mariners and Somerset Bridge) officiated.
The mourners were Mr. H. KEIRLE, Pontyates, and Mr. W. J. PARKER, Barry (uncles), Mrs. HARRIS (aunt), and Mrs. BULLOCK (cousin), Liverpool, Mr. and Mrs. C. PARKER, Mr. and Mrs. H. GALLEY, Mr. and Mrs. F. PARKER, Bristol, Mr. and Mrs. S. HARPER, Mr. and Mrs. R. LYNHAM, Mr. and Mrs. C. REDSTONE, Bristol (uncles and aunts), Mr. and Mrs. W. HAWKINS, Gloucester, Mrs. L. THRESHER, Miss Joan GALLEY, Mr. Jack GALLEY, Private Ray PARKER, Miss Pearl PARKER (cousins). Also present were Mrs. H. MOATE, Miss MOATE and others.
An officer and six sergeants of the R.A.F. acted as bearers. The coffin was covered with a Union Jack.
Messrs J. E. GILBERT & Son, Bridgwater, carried out the funeral arrangements.
