LANGPORT

CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH WEDDING

On Saturday the marriage was solemnised by the Rev John J. HAYNES, at the Congregational Church, of Leading Seaman Roy Alan WOODMAN R.N., younger son of Mr. and Mrs. R. WOODMAN of Garden City Langport, and Miss Sybil M. STACEY, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. STACEY of Portfield, Langport. The church had been decorated by Mrs. F. NORTON. The choir, of which Miss STACEY was a member, led the singing, and Mrs. L. WEBB was organist. The bride who was given away by her father wore a dress of white satin, veil, and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of roses. Miss Maisie MAYNARD was the bridesmaid, and she wore a dress of old gold satin, with head-dress of red and gold. Her bouquet was of sweet peas. The bridegroom wore naval uniform. Mr. A. WOODMAN brother of the bridegroom was “best man.” As the bride left the church she was presented with silver horseshoes by Bryan STACEY (her nephew) and Janet WOODMAN (the bridegroom's niece). The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents and later Mr. and Mrs. WOODMAN left for their honeymoon at Teignmouth. The numerous presents included a clock to the bride from members of the choir and Sunday school teachers of the Congregational Church, and a gift from her employers, Mr. and Mrs. Guy TURNER, of Staplegrove Manor, Taunton. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaid was a gold bangle.
