WELL-KNOWN BELLRINGER

A well-known resident of Milverton has passed away in the person of Mr. Willie CROSS, who died at Taunton Hospital after a serious operation. Mr. CROSS, a native of Fitzhead, came to live in Milverton after his marriage 31 years ago. He carried on the business of a wheel-wright. Keenly interested in campanology, he was in charge of the bells at St. Michael's, Milverton, for several years. He was a devout churchman, and a member of the British Legion. His cheery smile and companionship will be greatly missed in the locality. Mr. CROSS served his county in the last war. The funeral took place on Tuesday, when a large number of friends assembled in the Parish Church. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack. The Vicar (the Rev. A. PALMER) conducted the service, and the hymns, “Oh for a faith that will not shrink” and “Abide with me,” were sung. Appropriate music was played on the organ by Mr. C. BERRY, the organist.
