COUPLE SEPARATE AFTER 29 YEARS

TAUNTON WIFE'S APPLICATION

Mrs. Ellen Maud HAWKINS, 27, Eastleigh-road, Taunton, applied at the Borough Court on Wednesday for a maintenance order against her husband, William George HAWKINS (49), draper's traveller, of 20, Willey's-avenue, St. Thomas, Exeter, on the ground of desertion.

Mr. R. W. YOUNG represented the husband (who did not appear), and said he did not contest the allegation of desertion.

Mr. F. W. WILLMOTT, representing Mrs. HAWKINS, said the couple were married 29 years ago. For two years there had been differences owing to defendants alleged association with another woman, with whom he had now left Taunton, and he (Mr. WILLMOTT) understood he was living with her at Exeter.

There were three children of the marriage the youngest being a scholarship boy aged 12, of whom Mrs. HAWKINS asked the custody.

Mr. YOUNG said defendant's wage was about £3 5s a week, and he was paying £1 15s a week rent for a furnished house.

The Bench made an order of £1 a week for Mrs. HAWKINS, and 7s 6d for the son, with an advocate's fee of £2 2s and 8s 6d Court fees.
