ENGLAND'S OLDEST BEE-KEEPER?

LATE Mr. R. ADDISON.

By the death of his home at Pilot Elms, North Petherton, on Saturday, of Mr. Robert ADDISON, the village has lost its oldest male inhabitant and a well-known figure. Mr ADDISON, who was a native of Westmorland, had lived in North Petherton for many years. He celebrated his 96th birthday last February. An honorary life member of the Beekeepers' Association of England and Wales, he won numerous medals and prizes for honey at shows in all parts of the country, and was believed to be the oldest apiarist in the country. Back in the 70's he carried on a night school in the village for a number of years.

A widower, he leaves one son and two daughters. On the occasion of their diamond wedding several years ago, Mr. and Mrs. ADDISON were the proud recipients of a congratulatory message from the King and Queen.

The funeral took place at North Petherton Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the Vicar (the Rev. J. ADDY) officiating.

The chief mourners were:- Mr. and Mrs. P. ADDISON (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. WEBB (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. GUNNINGHAM and Mr. Roger HILL. Also present were Miss E. WEBBER, Mrs. PENNY, Mrs. H. BAKER and Mrs. CADDY.

There were some beautiful floral tributes.
