TAUNTON LICENSEE

DEATH OF MRS. MADDOCK, OF WOOD-STREET

Mrs. Constance Clara MADDOCK, who has been licensee of the Wood-street Inn, Wood-street, Taunton, for 31 years, died on Tuesday, at the age of 55. She was taken ill only the previous day.

Her long association with the licensed trade had made her extremely well known, and her tact and happy disposition had won her innumerable friends.

Deep sympathy is expressed with her husband Mr. Joseph MADDOCK (who is in ill-health), and two sons, Corporal E. WOOD, R.A.F., and Mr E. J. A. MADDOCK, in their bereavement.

Mrs. MADDOCK was the only daughter of the late Captain F. W. ALLEN (Merchant Service) and Mrs. ALLEN, of Bristol. Her parents kept the Half Moon, Taunton, for a short period. Shortly after her marriage to the late Mr. A. E. WOOD she came to Taunton as licensee of the Wood-street Inn, and she married Mr. MADDOCK in 1920. She was a member of the Taunton and West Somerset Licensed Victuallers' Association.

The funeral took place at St. Mary's Cemetery yesterday (Friday) afternoon.
