HOUSE POSSESSION CASES

BRIDGWATER APPLICATIONS

Judge WETHERED heard applications for the possession of three houses at Bridgwater County Court on Friday.

Eliza CORNISH of 91 Wembdon-road, Bridgwater, applied through Mr. J. SCRYMGEOUR (Mr. C. B. PARDOE's office, Bridgwater) for possession of 71, Wembdon-road occupied by J. WATLING. Rent arrears of £27 17s were given as the grounds of the application and applicant said she wished herself to occupy 71, Wembdon-road.

His Honour adjourned the application for further consideration, it being stated that a house in Mount-street, Bridgwater might become available, but defendant, who had eight children, two of whom were serving in the Forces, had not yet seen the property.

Ernest J. WHITE, of High Ham, Taunton, applied for possession of a house at 60, Barclay-street, Bridgwater, occupied by E. HILL. Mr Neville REED (Messrs. Reed & Reed, Bridgwater) represented applicant, and stated there were rent arrears of £19.

A letter from defendant offered payment of the arrears in weekly instalments of £2

The Judge made an order for possession, but stayed the order as long as defendant paid the current weekly rent of 10s, together with £2 a week in reduction of the arrears.

In the third case Thos. William HIGGINS, Pilots Elms, North Petherton asked for possession of a house occupied by Mr. and Mrs. KINNARD, of Chadmead, North Newton.

His Honour adjourned the application to the September Court for further information regarding rent, and ordered defendants in the meantime to pay 10s a week rent. Mr. Neville REED representing applicant.
