KINGSBURY EPISCOPI

FOR WAIFS AND STRAYS

A dance was held at Stembridge School in aid of the Waifs and Strays. Music was supplied by the Rhythm Aces Band, and an enjoyable evening was spent. A cheque for £4 12s has been forwarded.

FOR SAILORS SOCIETY

A house-to-house collection made by the Kingsbury Episcopi Women's Institute members last week resulted in the magnificent sum of £200 7s 6d. The collectors were Mrs. Randall BELL (Council Houses), Miss DUCK (Lower and Higher BURROW), Miss JEFFERY (East and Mid Lambrook), Mrs F. C. MOUNTER (west end of village), Mrs. MacGEORGE (east end of village), Mrs WALTERS (Stembridge). Mrs DUNLOP (Bladon and West-street), Mrs LOCK (Thorney), Mrs. SCOTT (West Lambrook). Great credit is due to Mrs. Randall BELL for organising the collection, which was passed to the W.I. Treasurer to be sent to the British Sailors Society.

LATE MRS. J. LOCK

The funeral took place on Tuesday last week of Mrs. Jane LOCK, who died the previous Friday, aged 78 years. Mrs LOCK passed away at Stembridge but for nearly 50 years had made her home at Thorney. Chief mourners attending were Messrs. W. J., H and W LOCK, sons; Mrs W. LOCK daughter-in-law; Miss L. STUBBS and Miss G. LOCK, granddaughter; Mr. and Mrs H. TILLEY, grandchildren; Mrs. T. NORRIS, Mrs. J. PRIDDLE, Mrs C. BUNSTON and Mrs. W. MOUNTER, nieces; Mr. W. STUBBS and Mr. H. WESTLAKE, sons-in-law; Mr. R. DUCK, nephew; Mrs. and Miss POPE and Mr. L. STUCKEY, friends. Messrs. F. LOCK, T. MIDDLETON, T. and J. SMITH were the bearers.

Mr. W. J. LOCK and relatives wish to thank all friends for messages of sympathy and for the beautiful flowers sent.

SUDDEN DEATH OF MISS R. STUCKEY

After visiting friends and relatives at Chard last week. Miss Rosina STUCKEY, of Lower Burrow, collapsed and died on the evening of Wednesday. She had appeared in her normal state of health and thoroughly enjoyed her outing. Having returned home in the early evening, she was assisting with the management of the household when she suddenly collapsed and passed away before medical aid could be obtained. A post-mortem examination was held, but no inquest was necessary.

Miss STUCKEY, who was aged 74, was a daughter of the late Mr. Isaac STUCKEY, of New Cross. For the past few years she had made her home with her sister, Mrs W. ELLIOTT, at Lower Burrow.

The funeral took place on Monday at East Lambrook, the service being conducted by the Rev. E. R. TUXFORD, vicar Principal mourners were:- Mr. S. STUCKEY, brother; Mr and Mrs W ELLIOTT, brother-in-law and sister, Miss M STUCKEY (Long Sutton), and Mrs L. COOK (Barrington) nieces; Mr and Mrs. J. ELLIOTT, nephew and niece; Mr. Arthur ELLIOTT, nephew; Mrs. C. MALE, cousin; Miss V. NEVILLE, friend. There were also many other friends present at the funeral. Mr W. STUCKEY (Long Sutton), brother, was unable to attend through indisposition.

Messrs A. SHEPPARD, T. PIPE, C. MALE, and W FRENCH (friends) were the bearers, the funeral arrangements being carried out by Mr. R. FRY.

EDWARDS and family; Mr. and Mrs. HUTCHINGS and family; Mr. and Mrs. COX and family.

Mrs. ELLIOTT and the brothers of the late Miss STUCKEY wish to return thanks for kind expressions of sympathy and for the beautiful floral tributes.
