MOTHER RECEIVES GALLANTRY MEDAL

Mrs F. SCRIVEN of Wagg Drove, was received by H.M. The King at a recent Investiture, and was presented with the Distinguished Service Medal awarded to her son the late Petty Officer Arthur H. SCRIVEN, who lost his life when his ship was sunk in May 1942. The medal was awarded to P.O. SCRIVEN for gallantry in November, 1941, when he was leading seaman. He was wounded when the ship was sunk and died in a Middle East Hospital soon afterwards. Mrs. SCRIVEN was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Joan SCRIVEN, at the investiture.
