BRIDGWATER PASTOR'S SON

MARRIAGE OF DR. W. R. G. THOMAS

Dr. William Roger Griffith THOMAS, of the R.A.M.C., son of Rev. and Mrs. Roger G. THOMAS, of Bridgwater, was married at Bethany Baptist Church, Cardiff, last week to Miss Marjorie Miriam WATKINS, of the Milford Haven Secondary School, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. W. G. WATKINS, of Surrey Bank, Cyncoed-road, Cardiff, and formerly of Mount Calvary Church, Swansea. Principal T. W. CHANCE officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. J. HARRIS, area superintendent of the South Wales Baptist Churches, and the father of the bridegroom, Mrs M. Denning JONES, of Swansea, was organist. During the signing of the register a solo, “The Lord is mindful of His own,” was sung by Mrs. W. R. THOMAS, of Newport, Mon.

The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of white needle-run lace over heavy white satin, the train of the dress being cut in one with the skirt. A halo of orange blossom held in place her long plain tulle veil. She carried a bouquet of orchids with white carnations, white heather and asparagus fern. The two bridesmaids, Miss E. Mair THOMAS, of Exeter (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Joy RICHARDS, a colleague of the bride, wore picture gowns of ice blue starched lace over taffeta, with sashes of deep-wine velvet. Their heart-shaped hats were of lace and velvet and trimmed with a posy of feather flowers, and they carried shower bouquets of deep-wine coloured carnations. The “best man” was Dr P. L. ALLEN, who with Dr J. PEARSON, one of the groomsmen, were fellow students of the bridegroom at St. Thomas's Hospital. The other groomsmen were Mr. Maxwell WARREN (cousin of the bridegroom) and Mr. W. D. WALTERS (a colleague of the bride).

Following the ceremony a reception took place at the Angel Hotel. The honeymoon is being spent in Great Malvern and Scotland.
