R.A.F. WEDDING AT BRIDGWATER
AIRCRAFTMAN K. F. ACLAND AND MISS VEDA GRIFFITHS
Much interest was shown in the wedding at St. Mary's Church, Bridgwater, on Thursday, of Aircraftman Kenneth Francis ACLAND, only son of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. ACLAND, 51, North-street, to Miss Veda Doreen GRIFFITHS only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. GRIFFITHS, of All Saints'-terrace. The Vicar, Preb. E. H. HUGHES-DAVIES, officiated, and Mr W. H. PHILLIPS was at the organ.
The bride wore a gown of ivory self-patterned satin with coronet and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of pink white and red carnations. She was given away by her father and accompanied by 4 attendants. Mrs. Dora BONEHAM, aunt of the bridegroom, who was matron of honour, was gowned in Lido blue crepe silk, and carried a sheaf of gladioli.
The three little bridesmaids were the Misses Mary and Margaret ACLAND (nieces of the bridegroom) and Shirley WILLIAMS (niece of the bride). They wore dresses of floral ivory satin with poke bonnets to match, and carried posies of blue scabious and white chrysanthemums.
Mr Arthur TRUNKS R.A.F., cousin of the bride was “best man.” About 60 guests attended the reception at the Crofton Hotel. Later in the day the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon at Weston-super-Mare. They received many presents.
