NORTH PETHERTON

A TYPHOON FIGHTER

During “wings for Victory” Week the local Committee aim to raise at least £5,000, the cost of a Typhoon fighter aircraft.

COMPETITON WINNERS

Winners of a competition arranged by Miss E. WILTSHIRE which raised £2 for Mrs. Churchill's Aid to Russia Fund, were Mrs. MELHUISH and Mr. E. HOOPER.

A.T.C. SOCIAL

On Friday, at the Memorial Hall, a company of about 70 attended a social organised by members of the Air Training Corps. The programme included dancing and variety items.

CLUBS FOR SERVICEMEN

The sum of £20 has been raised by the local branch of Toc H, as the result of a whist drive and the sale of house building cards, in aid of the Toc H Clubs for Service men.

CAPTAIN FRANK CORAM

Congratulations are extended to Mr. Frank CORAM, eldest son of Mr and Mrs. S. CORAM, of Mill House, who has been promoted to the rank of Captain in the West African Army Service Corps. Joining the ranks he has served in the Army 20 years, having served in the Soudan and Abyssinian campaign.

BOOKS FOR H.M.S. WOLFHOUND

The Mayor of Bridgwater and the Chairman of the Rural District Council are appealing for books for the library of H.M.S. Wolfhound, which was adopted during last year's Warship Week.

It is hoped to raise £100 by subscriptions, limited to 1s or 6d per person, and local residents may hand donations to Mr. E. L. PORTER.
