FUNERAL OF MRS. WILLIAM OATEN
The death occurred on Friday, November 12th, of Mrs. Mabel Alice OATEN, wife of Mr. William OATEN, of 29, Winchester-street. Mrs. OATEN, who was 68, was a native of Chappel House, Pyrland, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John PAUL. She had been a regular attendant at the Octagan practically all her life. She leaves her husband, four sons and two daughters.
Tht <sic> funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the first part of the service being held in the Octagon and conducted by Mr. Arthur HATCHER. Mrs. TURNER was at the organ and the hymns sung were “Lead Kindly Light” and “Rock of Ages.” As the coffin was borne from the Church the organist played “Handels Largo.” The interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family mourners were:- Mr. W. OATEN (husband), Messrs. W., J., T. and H. OATEN (sons), Mr. and Mrs. M. BOOBY, Mr. and Mrs. E. BALDWIN (sons-in-law and daughters). Mrs. E. COLES, Mrs. P. CRIDDLE (sisters), Mr. W. PAUL (brother), Mrs. E. PAUL (sister-in-law). Mrs. W. OATEN, Mrs. E. OATEN, Mrs. T. OATEN, Mrs. H. OATEN (daughters-in-law), Mrs. M. THORNE (niece), Miss I. THORNE (granddaugther). Mrs. R. HAYWARD (friend). Other friends atended <sic> the service as a tribute of respect. There was a number of floral tributes.
The arrangements were carried out by Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, of Haydon-road, Taunton.
