BARRINGTON

DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MRS. E. SWAIN

The death took place at 20, Council Houses, Barrington, on Sunday week, of Mrs. Ealia SWAIN, aged 88, widow of Mr. James SWAIN and Mr. Charles SWAIN. Mrs. SWAIN, who has lived in the village for over 68 years, was well liked by everyone for her kind-hearted disposition. Of her 13 children, nine are still living. Mr. Jack MORRIS, her eldest son, is living in the U.S.A. There are 45 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service took place at St. Mary's Church, Barrington, on Thursday, and was conducted by the Rev. J. B. GLASS, Miss M. EDWARDS being at the organ. Family mourners were Mr. Edwin MORRIS, Mrs. W. EDMUNDS, Mrs. W. LEYMAN (Plymouth), Mrs. H. WATTS, Mrs. F. CHICK (Horton), Mrs. S. BARTLETT (Guildford), and Mrs. G. HUXFORD, son and daughters; Mr. H. WATTS, Mr. G. HUXFORD, and Mr. F. CHICK, sons-in-law; Mrs. R. WOODLAND, Mrs. H. MEAD, Miss L. CHICK, Mrs. G. WYATT, Miss J. MORRIS, Miss U. MORRIS, Miss J. HUXFORD, Mr. A. EDMUNDS, Mr. B. EDMUNDS, Mr. G. MORRIS, Mrs. H. EDMUNDS, and Mrs. L. CHICK, grandchildren; Mrs. F. HEATHER (Guildford), daughter, Mrs. E. MORRIS, daughter-in-law, and Mrs. T. TALLET, granddaughter, were unable to attend owing to illness. There were many beautiful floral tributes, including a spray from the Barrington Mothers' Union, of which Mrs. SWAIN had been a member for many years.
