DEATH OF MR. A. W. DUDER

CHAIRMAN OF COUNTY STORES LTD.

The death took place at his home, The Cross House, Bishopsteignton, on Tuesday of Mr. Arthur Wrayford DUDER, chairman of directors of County Stores Somerset Ltd., which has branches at Taunton, Chard, Ilminster, Hatch Beauchamp, Langport, Milverton, Kingston and Wiveliscombe. He was 68 and had been in failing health for about six months, but continued his business activities and was at Taunton only a week before his death.

Mr. DUDER had been chairman of the Company ever since its formation 21 years ago and his only son, Squadron Leader Eric DUDER, D.F.C., D.S.O., the Taunton and Somerset Rugby player is a director. Mr. DUDER took over the business from his late father, Mr. John DUDER, who was sole proprietor of the old-established business of Messrs. Barter & Duder, and he had taken an active interest in its welfare, keeping in touch with all the branches and sections of the trade.

He was a Freemason and when living at Taunton before the Company was formed, he was connected with St. Mary's Church. He leaves a wife, one son and three daughters.

The funeral took place at Bishopsteignton yesterday (Friday).
