NORTH PETHERTON
R.O.C. DANCE
A successful dance was held at the Clarence Coronation Room on Thursday, organised by members of the Royal Observer Corps. The R.O.C. Band played.
REMEMBERING THE FORCES
To enable gifts to be sent to all members of the Forces from the village, a dance was held at the Coronation-room on Saturday. The dance, organised by Messrs. F. S. MARKS, F. ARGALL, and J. ROBERTS, was a great success. The Regal Dance Orchestra supplied the music. A further dance for the fund has been arranged for February 17th at the George Assembly Rooms.
WHIST FOR RED CROSS
Twenty-three tables were occupied at a whist drive organised by Mrs. L. S. CLATWORTHY at the Memorial Hall on Friday evening in aid of the Red Cross Agriculture Fund. Mr. C. W. STONE was M.C. Mr. R. N. GROVE presented the prizes to the following: Ladies – 1, Mrs. CULLEY (eggs, given by Mrs. W. SLOCOMBE); 2, Mrs. HODGES (tea set, Mrs. LAVIS); 3, Miss E. GARDNER (5s voucher, Mr. PALMER). Gents.'s – 1, Mr. FOSTER (bowl, Mr. R. N. C. GROVE); 2, Mrs. COLES (sandwich set, Mrs. HARDEN); 3, Mrs. W. COURT (kettle, Miss N. GARDNER). The drive realised £9 19s 4d.
