CHEDDON FITZPAINE WEDDING

REV. R. E. MARSDEN AND MISS G. R. GRAHAM

BRIDE'S FATHER AND BROTHER OFFICIATE

Clergy and A.T.S. officers were among a large congregation at the wedding at Cheddon Fitzpaine Church on Wednesday of the Rev. Robert Edward MARSDEN, curate of the Parish Church, Falmouth, son of the late Rev. Edward McLaren MARSDEN and Mrs. MARSDEN, of Teignmouth, and Miss Gertrude Russell GRAHAM, 2nd subaltern A.T.S., eldest daughter of the Rev. Christopher GRAHAM, O.B.E., R.N. (ret.), the Rector of Cheddon Fitzpaine, and Mrs. GRAHAM.

The bride's father conducted the choral service, assisted by her brother, the Rev. John F. O. S. GRAHAM, who also gave the bride away. The church was tastefully decorated. Mr. S. E. SAMPSON was at the organ, and a full choir was in attendance.

The bride was dressed in a long white satin frock, with a veil, which was worn by her mother and grandmother at their weddings, and she carried a bouquet of white arum lilies, mimosa and heather.

The matron of honour Mrs John SMITH (sister of the bridegroom), wore a long blue silk crepe dress, with black accessories; and the two bridesmaids, Miss Evelyn MARSDEN, V.A.D. (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Eve GRAHAM, W.R.N.S. (sister of the bride), were in uniform. The page, John SMITH (nephew of the bridegroom), was in a white sailor suit.

The “best man” was Mr. A. T. CARTER, of Falmouth a friend of the bridegroom. Mr. F. RANSFORD, Mr. I. RUSSELL and Mr. Brian GRAHAM were the ushers.

The bride's mother was dressed in blue georgette, with silver beads, and the bridegroom's mother wore a blue grey woollen dress and a brown musquash fur coat, with a black hat.

After the reception at the Rectory, where there were 100 guests, the couple left for the honeymoon in London. The bride's travelling costume was a smoke blue frock, and a fawn coat, with deep brown accessories.

There were numerous gifts. The bride received George II. silver articles from Cheddon Fitzpaine parishioners, and George I. silver from her A.T.S. unit. The bridegroom received a cheque from his congregation at Falmouth Parish Church and gifts from the Church Social Club, the King Charles Cavalier Club and the A.R.P. Wardens' Post at Falmouth.

On the eve of the wedding one hundred parishioners of Cheddon Fitzpaine were entertained in the Rectory.
