NORTH NEWTON
FARMER'S SON ABSENT FROM SCHOOL
In a letter to Bridgwater County Bench on Friday, Sidney HABBERFIELD, of Michael Church Farm, North Newton, who was summoned for failing to send his 14-years-old boy regularly to school, stated:- “My son had to help milk before he goes to school, and if he was at all late he did not like going to school. With acute labour shortage I was very awkwardly situated.”
Mr. A. E. PITTARD, school attendance officer, gave evidence.
HABBERFIELD was fined £1, and for not bringing the boy to Court a fine of ten shillings was imposed.
